About Our Families

Tiara's Story

"After all the information came out, I was bitter. But eventually I put it in my heart to forgive. It's not about the money, but it helps a lot, because brain injury causes a lot of problems that you don't know about early on."

Nathan's Story

"First, you cry. You bawl. You ask yourself, 'why me?' But then I looked at Nathan and I thought, 'He's exactly the same kid he was before. Now you just know more.'"

Autumn's Story

"I would tell anyone who's had an experience like ours to keep asking questions. Don't let them go unanswered. Get a qualified lawyer to look into your case, and don't give up hope."

Elizabeth's Story

"The saddest moment came when Ken told us that if Lizzy had been born any time between when I came in at 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., she would be fine. The doctor had misread the fetal monitoring strips. She had made a mistake."

We are families whose children developed Cerebral Palsy because of medical errors and child birthing problems that could have been prevented. We are here to share our stories and provide information about Cerebral Palsy, its treatments, causes and diagnosis, and the legal issues surrounding our cases.   We welcome your questions and stories as well.

Knowing Something Wasn’t Right.

Sometimes we did not know our child had CP until they were 2 or 3 years old even if we always suspected something had gone wrong during their birth.  We just “trusted” our doctors and the hospitals too much, and not our own instincts.  To help us find answers, we all ended up with Janet, Jenner & Suggs (JJS).  With the attorneys, physicians and nurses working at JJS, they not only confirmed our fears, but also told us other things that went wrong which we never suspected.  JJS also helped to make sure we had enough money to take care of our children’s future medical and educational needs.

The Same Birth Injuries Keep Happening.

In working with JJS, they told us that, in the 35 years they have been handling cases, the same birth injuries that cause Cerebral Palsy just keep happening. Our families came together with JJS to build this website and to prevent future injuries. We love our children and wouldn’t change who they are for the world, but the systems that permit birth injuries have to change. We are here to ALERT the public about what to watch out for, how to prevent medical errors and what to do if you suspect something is wrong.
